Website Description:Hallock State Park Preserve offers a total of 225 acres. Hallock State Park Preserve is a shorefront park preserve that offers nearly one mile of pristine beachfront on the North Shore of Long Island along the Long Island Sound.Hiking, nature walks, and bird watching are available on the eastern portion of the property. Development of the remainder of the preserve is in the planning stages and may include formal trails, environmental education, and activities appropriate for a park preserveUh. Didn't quite see any beachfront yet. Perhaps the road is blocked right now.Yes, it is $8 to park in either the front of back parking lot. Yes, I did see a note that made an exception for those parking for 30 minutes or less (particularly the gift shop). SO...until further notice, perhaps you can consciously opt out on the $8 fee if you walk through the trails in 30 minutes or less. Leave a note in your car saying "be back in 30 minutes or less" :). A note on the trail. Meh. It is wide (10 feet) allowing a family to walk together side by side There are no alopeseof high solar insolation (no share), and the trails are limited in October 2017. You can finish the trail in less than 30 minutes.
Glad to have this great state park so close to home. Website is misleading though and needs updating. There is a $8 fee for parking.
